Greg Wisz Professional Profile

Greg Wisz

Greg Wisz Many of the situations that Schooley Mitchell’s Greg Wisz has encountered throughout his professional career in cost reduction could be described as startling. One business had excessive services and was paying $120,000 too much on their telecom bills each year. Another telecom client had been overbilled to the tune of $600,000.
It may be shocking, but it’s all in a day’s work for the consultant who operates Schooley Mitchell businesses in Grand Rapids, Mich., Estero, Fla., and Fairfield County, Conn. Wisz routinely uncovers savings of 35 percent or more for his clients.
“Because of the number of clients we have, it’s easy to see that everyone is overcharged for their core business services,” said Wisz, noting he’s found savings for virtually every client he has audited. “The problem is astronomical.”
Being overcharged for services you don’t want or don’t need is a problem for all businesses, regardless of size. Wisz knows that just because a company is large or has ample resources doesn’t mean its telecom, merchant services, shipping and waste disposal costs are under control.
On the flip side, he has performed detailed analyses for small companies that never thought they would qualify for the competitive pricing offered to larger organizations, only to have thousands of dollars shaved off their bills annually.
There are many people who approach their core business expenses with the “weigh it and pay it” method — if the bill is similar to the month prior, it is paid without a second thought. According to Wisz, it’s surprising how many companies pay their bills this way.
Sometimes, the amounts Wisz saves his clients can be shocking. He still can’t believe the 97 percent savings he found on one client’s phone bill.
“Who would think they would pay 97 percent more than they needed to,” said Wisz.
Aside from finding savings, Wisz’s favorite part of being a Schooley Mitchell consultant is working with people. He prefers a hands-on approach with his clients, working hard to ensure they understand the services and options that are available and how they will impact their bottom line.
Wisz is primarily an expert in telecom, and consistently keeps an eye on the trends and evolutions in that industry. He suspects more and more businesses will continue to migrate towards wireless data share plans. As traditional landlines continue to be ditched in exchange for VoIP offerings, and cloud-based solutions continue to gain popularity, lower costs are there for the taking for consumers.
“You’re going to see a lot more interoperability amongst communications systems,” Wisz predicts. “It’s changing the way we work, think and do business.”
Outside of work, Wisz likes to stay active through downhill skiing, waterskiing and riding around on his Segways. Wisz has also been a regular blood donor for over 35 years. After years of consulting and finding millions of dollars in savings for his clients, Wisz knows that an organization must stick to its strengths to be successful.
“I always tell my clients, do what you do best and let us do what we do best,” says Wisz. “Do what you’re good at and let us do what we’re good at: Reducing your expenses and optimizing your business services.”
