Recommendation Letter for Kawartha Participation Projects

To whom it may concern:

It is with deep respect and admiration I write this letter in recognition of Kawartha Participation Projects. Established in 1978, Kawartha Participation Projects is a non-profit organization that provides self-directed, complex care and affordable housing for people with diverse need to help them live independently in their homes and achieve their goals.

Kawartha Participation Projects was formed in response to a lack of adequate facilities for people living with a disability. At the time, it simply endeavored to provide accessible housing and support services. By 1983, it had successfully established supportive housing units in various apartment complexes. In 1999, the KPP Foundation was incorporated as a non-profit fundraising partner dedicated to raising funds to assist people with physical disabilities in the four counties of Haliburton, Northumberland, Peterborough and the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Today, Kawartha Participation Projects has seven different supportive housing locations ranging from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom townhouses. Its attendant outreach services provide personal and homemaking supports in the home on a regularly scheduled basis and in permanent residential settings.

On top of providing essential support and service to people living with physical disabilities, Kawartha Participation Projects also provides property management services to everyone from non-profits and co-operatives to condominiums through its property management department, as well as affordable market rents to those who qualify.

Kawartha Participation Projects is an important organization that provides vital services and support to people living with physical disabilities. I commend Kawartha Participation Projects, its staff and volunteers and support them wholeheartedly as they work to make a difference in the lives of countless individuals and families by helping to create communities that are caring, inclusive and accessible.

Sincerely,

Professional Profile Patrick Delehanty

Running a business isn’t cheap — as any business owner can attest. Unfortunately, there are certain services that virtually every business needs in order to operate.

That’s why Schooley Mitchell Strategic-Partner Patrick Delehanty is happy he’s able to provide his clients with reduced rates for these services — and the peace of mind that comes along with them.

Take, for example, Delehanty’s first client ever: a small, family-run business that has been selling truck caps and accessories out of Danbury, CT since 1968. Delehanty approached this business with an offer to conduct a free audit of their merchant services costs in order to find them lower rates.

“I’m friends with the owner, and when I approached him he said that he thought they were pretty well off, but since it doesn’t cost anything to look, go right ahead and give it a shot,” said Delehanty.

When the audit was complete, the client’s merchant services provider demanded that the client also be on the line during the subsequent negotiations.

“He called me back after 15 minutes and said he had no idea what our negotiator was even saying, but they offered just about $9,000 in savings in the first year,” said Delehanty. “He was kind of blown away.”

As an expert in several ever-changing industries, Delehanty understands the value of dedicating time to staying on top of the latest offerings.

“Everyday something is changing in each of these markets. It’s almost impossible for a professional who is busy running their business to keep track of all the changes” he said.

Delehanty is no stranger to being short on time — he spent ten years as a pharmaceutical rep for two large manufacturers, and the subsequent ten years as a manufacturers rep for two different organizations. When he decided to start up his own business, he was immediately drawn to the value proposition that Schooley Mitchell offers.

“It was kind of a no-brainer,” he said.

Schooley Mitchell is the largest cost-reduction consulting firm in North America, with offices from coast-to-coast in the United States and Canada. On average, Schooley Mitchell reduces its client’s expenses by 27-28% in several different categories and has delivered over $320 million in documented savings to over 20,000 clients to date.

Delehanty enjoys creating meaningful relationships with his clients and knows that they rely on him because, as an independent consultant, he is always doing what is in their best interests.

“Personally, it’s all about honesty and integrity, and helping these business owners make more productive, better run organizations,” he said.

In his personal time, Delehanty likes to stay active — both physically and in his community. He plays basketball and golf, loves watching college basketball, and spends a lot of time at his children’s athletic events — including as a volunteer for the youth athletics lacrosse league in his hometown of Brookfield, CT.

He is an active member of Brotherhood in Action, a food pantry that delivers meals around the holidays and end of the school year when underprivileged families often can’t afford to feed their children. He also volunteers at Ann’s Place, a local cancer support group.

If Delehanty could give one piece of advice to business owners, it would be to leave the dirty work to him.

“Let Schooley Mitchell become your single point of contact for managing your business expenses, so you can focus on your core business,” he said.
